InsideNoVa, the leading digital and print news source in Northern Virginia, has an opening for a talented local news reporter to join our award-winng team. This reporter will provide primary coverage of government and politics in Prince William County, Virginia’s second-largest locality, with a focus on going beyond the board meetings and breaking stories that drive the agenda. Our Prince William County weekly newspaper has twice been named the best large weekly paper in the state (most recently in 2022) and also received the state press association’s highest journalistic honor in 2021.
The successful applicant will have previous reporting experience covering a local government beat, developing sources and generating compelling story ideas. Even though we are a weekly paper, we are 24/7 online, so this is a fast-paced position — and comfort with writing for both digital and print is a must. Multimedia skills are a plus. Late-night meetings are part of the job, but weekend work is not generally required. The position is based out of our Woodbridge office and candidates must live in or be willing to move to the area.
