Industry Dive seeks a medical tech reporter

We’re looking for a sharp Reporter to join our growing MedTech publication.
You’ll regularly write business and policy coverage on the medical device sector, from breaking news briefs to in-depth trend stories. You will own your beat, cultivate source relationships, monitor developments, and pitch and pursue stories. You will collaborate with a small editorial team and also assist with some editing duties. This position reports to the Managing Editor.

What can you bring to the table:

    • A track record of strong writing and reporting skills. Experience in business and healthcare or medical device reporting is highly preferred.
    • Ability to interpret and analyze business concepts and major news stories, including financial reports and government regulations.
    • Ability to build relationships with industry, government and other sources and grasp complex subjects related to medtech.
    • Strong digital news knowledge and aptitude.
    • Deadline-oriented time management skills; ability to turn around stories on tight deadlines, including breaking news coverage.
    • Proficiency in social media platforms.
    • Bachelor’s degree or better in journalism, English or similar field.
    • At least 3 years experience of professional reporting and writing. Preferably in the medical device, technology or closely related field.

What you’ll do:

    • Regularly pitch, report and write stories for MedTech Dive.
    • Build and maintain relationships with a variety of important industry sources.
    • Identify key industry storylines for our coverage. Pitch and execute standout pieces on breaking news and broader trends.
    • Track analytics to gauge what stories are resonating with readers.
    • Work with your team on assignments and edit in a collaborative fashion.
    • Work in a growing newsroom that encourages innovative projects that showcase creativity.
