Indianapolis is a vibrant city with a burgeoning tech industry. It also is the headquarters for a major pharmaceutical company (Eli Lilly) and health insurer (Anthem). The city also has a thriving convention business and downtown, and has been especially successful in attracting big-name sporting events (Big10 championships, Final Fours, the Super Bowl and, of course, the Indianapolis 500 — the most-attended one-day sporting event in the US).
IndyStar has a reputation for impactful watchdog journalism — we are especially proud of our coverage of sexual abuse issues in gymnastics — and insightful trend and issue coverage. We want — expect — that level of work in our business coverage, and we have the editors and support staff to help reporters make that happen.
Some of the skills/traits we looking for:
Intellectual curiosity and determination
A sense of fairness and justice
Digital focus (including an awareness of how to use metrics/analytics to shape coverage and reach audience)
Social media savvy (including a sophisticated approach to promoting/sharing content and breaking news)
A desire to learn/be coached
Ability to work successfully in a team environment
If that sounds like you, please be encouraged to contact hiring manager Alvie Lindsay (News and Investigations Director) at alive.lindsay@indystar.com
