Indianapolis Biz Journal seeks a reporter

August 29, 2019

Posted by Chris Roush

The Indianapolis Business Journal is looking for an aggressive, curious reporter to join an award-winning team covering a thriving business sector in Indianapolis and surrounding communities.

IBJ covers government, politics, real estate, technology, manufacturing, tourism, health care, utilities and more and our current opening has yet to be defined. We are looking for a strong reporter and are considering changes in our beat structure that could accommodate the strengths of a successful candidate.

We expect this reporter to regularly write for the front page, to moderate events and be a go-to person for breaking business news in our capital city, which is home to a number of high-profile companies, including Eli Lilly and Co., Cummins Inc., Anthem Inc., Simon Property Group, Elanco, One America and Allison Transmission. In addition, Salesforce, Rolls-Royce, Roche, FedEx, Corteva and several other multi-national companies have significant operations in the city.

Indy also has a top-ranked airport, is one of the nation’s busiest convention cities and is home to several professional sports teams, including the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts and minor league Indianapolis Indians and Indy Eleven. Nearby colleges include Indiana University, Purdue University, IUPUI, Butler University and Ball State University. Indianapolis is also home of the NCAA, several amateur sports federations, the Indianapolis 500 and other major racing events

IBJ offers a chance to work in an affordable capital city with a metro-area population of more than 2 million people but in a smaller newsroom with plenty of opportunity to make a big impact. We are an award-winning, locally owned media organization that publishes two daily email newsletters; six industry-specific, several weekly email newsletters; and a weekly print newspaper. We sponsor a Power Breakfast series of industry-specific events as well as recognize accomplished and young professionals in a number of business categories. Visit us at ibj.com.
