Inc. seeks an executive editor

Inc. magazine needs an executive editor. In this role, the ideal candidate will:

–Conceive, assign, and edit big-picture, award-winning features and packages for Inc. magazine.

–Be a strong and wise editor of reporters and writers for Inc. and Inc.com, nurture their development as journalists, and help identify and cultivate new editorial talent for Inc.

–Procure key speakers for, advise on, and participate in Inc. events (such as the annual Inc. 5000 conference).

— Oversee crucial Inc. editorial franchises — including our annual Female Founders issue — and manage their development over multiple platforms.

–Be comfortable creating and leading ad hoc teams.

–Have at least 5 years experience in journalism, preferably with some business journalism experience, and have experience editing major (3,000 word and longer) features.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
