IBTimes seeks a business reporter

IBTimes is in the process of increasing its Business News coverage. To that end we are looking to hire a talented Business Reporter to bolster the desk, broaden our coverage and deliver quality business news to our growing audience.The successful candidate will have proven experience in a Business reporting role for a digital news organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Writing original content for publication on the IBTimes site.
Generate ideas for breaking news stories and longer-form features
Working diligently to make sure articles are written and published as quickly as possible.
Following the newsroom style-guide to ensure consistency of writing.
Building a reliable network of contacts with which to source stories.
Fact-checking your own work and making it as accurate as possible.
Forward planning for known News events.
Work as part of a team to make the news output as strong as possible.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
Previous experience in a busy reporting role for a reputable online organisations
Evidence of solid news judgement alongside a passion for accuracy and grammar
Good knowledge of SEO and online journalism
Excellent knowledge across a broad range of current event issues.
Eagerness and ability to hit the ground running and be keen to take responsibility for the role
Generate ideas for breaking news stories and longer-form features

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
