Houston Chronicle seeks producer/assistant editor for FuelFix.com

If you want to play a dynamic role in crafting the national conversation around an issue with global implications, there’s no better time to join the Houston Chronicle’s energy team. As producer/assistant editor of our FuelFix.com energy site, you will manage digital coverage of one of the world’s largest industries from the epicenter of the national oil boom.

We are looking for a multitasking, multimedia journalist who has the digital skills to build an engaging site and the knowledge to edit stories written in the language of the energy business (or who is sharp enough to pick up the lingo quickly). You will work with our team of energy reporters to keep the site filled with breaking news and high-quality analysis, while also expanding its audience. The duties include:

* Tracking energy industry news and insuring its published on FuelFix quickly.

* Managing multiple social media profiles.

* Writing posts on energy news.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
