The Houston Chronicle, one of the largest newspapers in the U.S., is seeking an energetic and highly skilled business editor to lead an enthusiastic team of reporters and editors to greater heights.
The new business editor will cultivate a strategic vision for the Chronicle’s business department. We are looking for someone who can produce sophisticated journalism – online and in print – through planning, mentoring and editing. Part of that mission will be to create new platforms and channels for delivering business news. The job vacancy was the result of an internal promotion.
You can’t find a more dynamic market to pursue business journalism than Houston – a diverse, international metropolitan area anchored by some of the world’s largest energy companies, celebrated health institutions, a strong aerospace presence (NASA), fast-growing technology sector and the nation’s second-largest port.
Chronicle readers have high expectations for business news coverage, and we embrace the challenge. Our team of 15 writers and three editors produces daily business sections, A1 enterprise stories, special projects/sections and an energy news service website, FuelFix. We have business reporters based in Washington D.C. and in Austin.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in business news and have demonstrated the ability to develop exclusive beat coverage as well as exceptional enterprise work. If you believe you’re ready to lead, we want to hear from you.
