Houston Business Journal seeks web producer

The Houston Business Journal is seeking a top-notch Web Producer who can help report and write breaking online news that can be used across multiple platforms, including print, mobile and social.

The ideal candidate can quickly produce breaking news while maintaining accuracy and thoroughness. Alongside breaking news, the Web Producer is also responsible for creating compelling digital packages that speak to our audience. Your ultimate goal as Web Producer is to craft timely and compelling news that drives loyal engagement, grows audience and extends the Business Journal brand in the digital space. The job requires solid news judgment, strong headline writing skills, and familiarity with SEO and site metrics.

Working with the editors and reporters, the Web Producer will help to determine how best to extend and expand online articles.

Duties

Produce newsy, engaging daily online content Generate and execute digital content ideas Track metrics and measure engagement with an eye toward constant improvement Work with editors, reporters and other stakeholders to plan new content and features Produce and maintain all market-specific content on the Business Journal’s website, including national projects Gather and upload selected graphics, photos, informational graphics and info boxes to bizjournals.com Regularly participate in and attend Business Journal sponsored events.

Skills

2-3 years experience in online news operation Strong headline writing and copy editing skills Strong AP Style skills SEO experience Video production experience a plus Experience with content management systems Html Social media experience.
