The Houston Business Journal, a thriving and growing news organization, is looking for a full-time energy reporter who can break news before it happens and tell readers what it means on all platforms — web, social media, video and print.
We’re looking for strong traditional journalism skills, such as source building, sharp interviewing techniques, strong analytical and investigative reporting skills and clear writing and knowledge of AP style.
Whatever the platform, we produce original and curated content that is accompanied by perspective and context. The ideal candidate will be comfortable being the face of energy for HBJ, regularly appearing on panels and attending industry events.
Minimum of 3 years of journalism experience required, with a knowledge of the local business community and experience covering B2B news preferred. Job includes flexible work schedule, with full medical benefits and 401(k). Bachelor’s degree required. Energy industry knowledge not required.
To apply: Email a short cover letter, resume and clips or links of published work to Emily Wilkinson, HBJ’s managing editor, ewilkinson@bizjournals.com.
