HNGN seeks a senior editor

We are looking for an experienced Senior Editor to join our team. The editor will be responsible for one of our sites, HNGN.com. (Headlines and Global News)

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and editing high-quality content for a variety of platforms, including web and social media. The Senior Editor will be expected to have a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of grammar and style. The ideal candidate should also have excellent research skills and be able to work independently to produce content that meets our company’s standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the editorial team: Supervise a team of editors, writers, and content creators, providing guidance, assigning projects, and reviewing their work to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Edit and proofread content: Review and edit written content for grammar, style, clarity, and consistency. Ensure that all content meets the publication’s guidelines, maintains a consistent tone, and is error-free.
  • Content strategy and development: Collaborate with writers and contributors to develop and plan content strategies that align with our target audience and organizational goals. Generate ideas, identify trends, and contribute to the editorial calendar.
  • Establish editorial standards: Set and enforce editorial standards, ensuring consistency in style, tone, and quality across all content. Develop and update style guides, provide training to the editorial team, and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Coordinate content production: Collaborate with writers, contributors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of content. Manage editorial calendars, prioritize assignments, and effectively communicate deadlines and expectations.
  • Collaborate with other departments: Work closely with design, marketing, and sales teams to align content strategies, provide input on marketing campaigns, and contribute to cross-functional projects.
  • Stay updated with industry trends: Stay informed about industry trends, changes in publishing practices, and emerging technologies. Continuously develop skills and knowledge to adapt to evolving editorial standards and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Proven experience as a senior editor or similar editorial role.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high editorial standards.
  • Proficiency in using editing software and content management systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of grammar, style, and industry-standard style guides.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
