HNGN INC. seeks a managing editor

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Managing Editor to lead our Global/World News division. As the Managing Editor, you will be responsible for overseeing the team of talented journalists and content creators, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely, and impactful news stories that resonate with our global audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Global/World News team, providing guidance, feedback, and support to journalists, editors, and writers.
  • Set the editorial direction and tone for global news coverage, ensuring a well-balanced and diverse range of topics and perspectives.
  • Develop and implement editorial strategies to cover breaking news, ongoing events, and in-depth feature stories.
  • Foster a culture of journalistic excellence, ethics, and accuracy within the newsroom.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate multimedia elements such as images, videos, and infographics into news stories.
  • Monitor the news landscape and industry trends to adapt the organization’s coverage and stay ahead in a competitive market.
  • Work closely with the social media and marketing teams to optimize the distribution and promotion of news content across various platforms.
  • Build and maintain relationships with international news sources, journalists, and freelancers to enhance news coverage and access exclusive stories.
  • Oversee the editorial calendar and ensure deadlines are met for daily news updates, long-term projects, and special features.
  • Represent the news organization at events, conferences, and with key stakeholders to enhance the brand’s reputation and influence.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief, or in a senior editorial leadership role within a reputable news organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of global news, geopolitics, world events, and current affairs.
  • Strong understanding of journalistic principles, ethics, and standards.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills to inspire and guide the team effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced news environment without compromising quality.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and content management systems.
  • A degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (advanced degrees are advantageous).
