Hartford Business Journal, Greater Hartford’s leading business-to-business publication, is looking for a full-time staff writer.
The qualified candidate must be an experienced journalist with multimedia skills, and capable of coming up with engaging story ideas for our business audience, writing clean copy and working both independently and collaboratively.
Business journalism experience is a plus. This is not a remote position, although working from home a day or so a week is a possibility. The new hire will report to HBJ’s new, modern office space in downtown Hartford.
The staff writer position will contribute to HBJ’s daily e-newsletter — writing breaking news stories — and our biweekly print newspaper, writing 2 to 3 more in-depth stories and features.
The right hire must be enterprising, willing to juggle various responsibilities at one time, able to write both breaking news and longer-form stories and be a self-starter when it comes to generating story ideas and sources.
Just as important, you must be willing and able to meet with the region’s top business leaders. Specific industry beats will be assigned.
