Hartford Biz Journal seeks a web editor

The Hartford Business Journal, an award winning business media organization, is looking for a web editor with a deep journalism background and social media skills.

The web editor will lead HBJ’s online news efforts and products including HBJ Today. The right candidate must be able to meet tight, daily deadlines and long-term story assignments.

Primary responsibilities will be writing, editing, and posting breaking news to the web (HartfordBusiness.com) and handling all of our social media channels.

The web editor writes 3 to 4 story briefs a day for HBJ Today and then sends the email at noon.

The position will also require writing more in-depth news stories for print and covering the real estate, construction and economic development beats.

We’re looking for a journalist with a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience. A business journalism background is a plus. We offer full health, dental and other benefits and a competitive salary.

HBJ is owned by New England Business Media, parent company to New Haven Biz, Worcester Business Journal and MaineBiz.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
