ABOUT THE COMPANY

Hakai Magazine explores science and society in coastal ecosystems. Its editorially independent, web publication examines the ties between the ocean, land, and human societies through long- and short-form journalism.

COMPENSATION

  • .68 cents – $1+ USD— news stories based on a new scientific study are  $0.85 CAN per word. More complex news stories (profiles/analyses) are $1.10 CAN per word. Features start at $1.25 CAN and go up depending on a bunch of factors (travel, access, length, etc.).
