GrowthSpotter seeks a real estate reporter

GrowthSpotter has an opening for a journalist to cover real estate and development in Orange and Seminole counties, the two most populous counties in the Orlando market. The GrowthSpotter role is part of a two-person team that publishes an online newsletter with original content each weekday.

Responsibilities

The Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford MSA is one of the fastest-growing and top job-producing markets in the nation. This beat includes development in and around the Disney theme parks and International Drive tourism corridor, as well as the markets in Winter Park, Winter Garden (Horizon West), Apopka and Oviedo. The job requires someone with strong news judgment and research skills who can react quickly to breaking news as well as provide in-depth coverage of major issues.

Qualifications

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
