Greater Wilmington Biz Journal seeks reporter

The Greater Wilmington Business Journal is looking for a business reporter. Founded in 2000, the independent, locally owned newspaper publishes every other week in print and online daily (WilmingtonBiz.com).

The Business Journal breaks news, provides in-depth coverage of important issues to the business community and pens profiles of area entrepreneurs, executives and other community leaders. An emphasis on economic development coverage will be part of this position’s beat.

Located in Wilmington, N.C., minutes from the ocean, the Business Journal offers a reporter the opportunity to cover a fast-growing community. At least two years of reporting experience preferred, but will consider recent college grads. Business reporting experience preferred, but not required.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
