Gray Television seeks a news reporter – WBTV

WBTV is looking for a curious, energetic, hard-hitting reporter who is driven to own the lead story every day. If you are a passionate journalist who builds relationships with viewers and sources to uncover the truth, keep reading.

The right candidate will use public records, computer-assisted reporting skills and a network of sources to provide in-depth coverage of important stories every day.

Duties/Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Pitch 3 viable, developed lead story ideas per shift
  • Develop and cultivate sources; enterprise stories
  • Produce a minimum of one package and one vosot per shift
  • Create digital and social content
  • Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs
  • Must pass a preemployment motor vehicle background check

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred, equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum 3 years of reporting experience required; 5 years preferred
  • Extensive live experience
  • Excellent writing and time management skills
  • Track-record of developing strong relationships with a variety of sources
  • Must exhibit an understanding of broadcast, digital, social and streaming platforms
