Gray Television seeks a multimedia journalist – WRDW/WAGT

WRDW-TV/WAGT-TV is home to the CBS and NBC affiliates in the beautiful southern city of Augusta, GA. The station operates out of a state-of-the-art facility that launched in February 2021.

WRDW-TV/WAGT-TV is looking for the next Multimedia Journalist to join our award-winning news team. We are located in beautiful Augusta, Georgia, and a new state-of-the-art station. Augusta is known internationally as home of the Masters Golf Tournament, but aside from golf, this southern city boasts a booming Cyber Industry, thriving economy, plenty to satisfy foodies, and offers outdoor recreation on lakes, rivers, and trails.

Responsibilities:

  • As MMJ you will also be researching, reporting live, shooting clean and creative video, writing in conversational broadcast style, and editing…all with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must have the desire and ability to daily cultivate sources in the community, enterprise lead stories, and dig beyond the surface.
  • Must also collaborate well with others in the newsroom.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Candidates should have experience as a reporter/MMJ with a broadcast news station or with a university/college newsroom with daily real world expectations and deadlines.
  • Successful applicant’s background must include a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism or related field.
  • He/she must be a self-starter, with ability to operate ENG cameras, accessories, and non-linear editors.
  • Strong research, conversational writing, camera presence, and communication skills are a must.
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to maintain attention to detail and accuracy under strict daily deadlines.
  • Must have and include a link to your multimedia journalist work.
  • This is a position for hard news journalists who know how to weave enterprise journalism into good storytelling; not a position for feature reporters.
