GlobalData seeks health care reporters in New York, London

Are you a passionate science journalist with a desire to dig for the truth? Are you inquisitive and intuitive and want to write the stories no one else is writing? Does it excite you to speak to the top experts in the industry and learn about major medical developments? Then we have the job for you.

GlobalData’s investigative journalist team breaks news and publishes deep-dive analysis on the most high-impact issues in the global health care market. The company is hiring health care reporters — two in London and one in New York. These challenging positions will include investigating and writing about key material situations in the drug development space. Reporters will be assigned beats defined by therapeutic areas like oncology, infectious diseases, hematology, etc. There is also a position that will focus on contract service providers.

Reporters are required to speak to key industry experts to write in-depth analysis pieces and break news. This is a highly demanding but extremely rewarding job for journalists who are driven to dig into the science and unveil the truth.

What you will do

  • Build rapport with well-connected sources to break scoops on the industry
  • Write technical analysis pieces diving into the science of drugs in development and statistics of trial results
  • Interview and build a comprehensive source book of key opinion leaders, physicians and industry experts
  • Attend regular source meetings and events to build solid rapport with sources
  • Travel across the US or Europe to cover academic and industry conferences

What you will bring to the table

  • Science and/or journalism background required as well as at least a demonstrable basic understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and R&D landscape
  • Excellent communication, networking, writing and interviewing skills required; an extra language would be a bonus
  • Ability to work in an interactive, time-sensitive and deadline-driven environment (often accommodating different global time zones) a must
  • Adaptable to working independently as well as with a team-oriented reporting approach key
  • Previous experience on a daily or weekly healthcare-related publication preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree
