GCC Media is a dedicated local media company that has invested in two community-centric newspapers: The New Era in Sweet Home, OR, and Lebanon Local in Lebanon, OR. Our mission extends beyond preserving the integral role of these publications; we prioritize a positive end-user experience and emphasize technological efficiency. Despite the broader challenges faced by the newspaper industry, we are passionate believers in the vitality of hyper-local news. Responsibilities:
- Develop, research, write, and edit news stories, articles, and features on various local topics.
- Use photography skills to capture high-quality images that complement and enhance written pieces.
- Attend local news events, press conferences, and interviews to gather information, photos, and video footage.
- Collaborate with editors, reporters, designers, and other team members to create compelling multimedia content.
- Fact-check all stories and ensure that all content meets the highest journalistic standards and adheres to ethical guidelines.
- Maintain a strong online presence and engage with audiences on social media platforms.
- Stay informed about local events, industry trends, and emerging technologies in the field of journalism and photography.
- Work under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred. Or equal experience to a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with photography equipment, including digital cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment.
- Familiarity with photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom) and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing news environments and work under pressure.
- Knowledge of social media trends and best practices.
- Willingness to live in the community you serve, travel, and work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
Salary: $34,000.00 – $38,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate: Sweet Home, OR 97386: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Experience: Journalism: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification: Driver’s License (Preferred)
