The Tennessean and the USA Today Network – Tennessee is seeking a state government reporter to join our two-person statehouse team covering politics, the governor and the Tennessee General Assembly. State government and politics is an important topic, particularly for The Tennessean, which is based in Nashville, the state capital.
The successful candidate will break news, tell stories about how policy and legislation impact Tennessee residents, particularly in key target audiences, and provide robust watchdog reporting on elected officials.
This statewide position requires a versatile journalist equally skilled in building and working sources as well as developing and reporting new angles on trending topics. This reporter would also work closely with colleagues in our newsrooms elsewhere in Tennessee, across the South and at USA Today.
