Gannett paper in Wisconsin seeks business reporter
The Fond du Lac Reporter, a Gannett newspaper in Wisconsin, is seeking a community business reporter.
The community business reporter is the go-to source for local information about Oshkosh and Fond du Lac businesses, including retail, commercial and industrial. This reporter will be a recognized brand within the Oshkosh and Fond du Lac communities, a visible figure connecting readers with information through multiple channels, including writing columns, hosting video programs and community events and writing in-depth stories.
In addition, as their primary focus, the reporter will follow business news where it intersects with government and public policy. Helping readers understand trends and consumers navigate marketplaces and find solutions to their financial and economic problems is another important focus of the community business reporter. This reporter will also look for opportunities to engage targeted audiences and will work with the content coach, content strategist and audience analyst to shape storytelling to meet audience needs and interest on every platform.
Specifically, this position entails creating storytelling that accurately informs, entertains and engages our audiences and platforms through the use of metrics, working toward becoming the community’s leading voice in their area of expertise. The community business reporter will connect with the community through storytelling and outreach (social media, on camera, forums, and community leadership) and will provide thoughtful analysis on complex issues, promote their personal brand and the brands of their colleagues, as well as, the institutional brand.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field or equivalent in experience and education, five years of experience developing a personal brand and fan base and experience with advanced storytelling techniques on multiple platforms.
