The central focus of the role will be major Japanese-headquartered companies including Toyota, Sony and SoftBank, as well as Asia’s biggest, most dynamic companies, and how they are navigating a global economy being reshaped by U.S. tariffs, intense Chinese competition and technological upheaval.
This assignment touches on many issues of high interest for our business-minded audience, such as the debate over electric vehicles, artificial intelligence and the geopolitical currents affecting critical business decisions.
We’re looking for a reporter who can join the dots between these broad themes to produce insightful, ambitious and revelatory reporting on Japan and the wider region.
The reporter will collaborate closely with colleagues across Asia and around the world and should be a quick study when news emerges in unexpected areas.
