WSJ seeks a news editor for Wall Street coverage

The Wall Street Journal is seeking a news editor to help shepherd our Wall Street coverage.

You’ll edit must-read stories about the most dynamic people and institutions in finance – a topic at the core of The Wall Street Journal. You’ll get to explore a wide variety of topics, including the sprawling U.S. banking system, new developments in consumer finance and the giant pools of money reshaping corporate America, including private equity and hedge funds. You’ll also edit scoops about big corporate deals and IPOs on a moment’s notice.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable handling breaking news and editing ambitious long-form features.

You have:

  • Impeccable writing and editing skills.
  • A knack for distilling complex ideas into simple terms and captivating stories.
  • Creative ideas for telling stories in new ways and formats.
  • A keen sense of the Journal’s audience and laser-focus on distinctive journalism.
  • The ability to exercise news judgment under intense pressure.
  • A track record of handling breaking news on deadline.
  • The drive to coordinate with teams across the newsroom to bring big stories to life.

Requirements:

  • Editing experience. Experienced reporters with exceptional writing skills are also encouraged to apply.
  • The ability to use digital-publishing tools to produce engaging journalism across the Journal’s publishing platforms.
  • A deep interest in learning about Wall Street and consumer finance.

This position is based in New York and reports to Wall Street Editors David Benoit and Cara Lombardo.
