US News seeks a business editor

U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. In this position you will have the opportunity to leverage your strengths and skills to optimize existing products and work with the 360 team dedicated to business, or B2B (think phone systems, virtual mailbox services, payroll software, domain registrars, LLC formation, payment processors, website builders, and more).

We are seeking a motivated detail-oriented, results-driven Business Editor with a solid background in editing and optimizing affiliate content for SEO and answering reader intent. You will join a high-growth expansion team, collaborating with the SEO team, editors, and digital producers, to ensure updated content is accurate, engaging, and that it educates and informs readers.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can balance assigning, editing, and publishing stories across all B2B beats. This job requires both analytical and editorial skills to ensure our B2B content is accurate, inclusive, and comprehensive. Our ideal candidate is dedicated, detail-oriented, results-driven, curious, efficient, and a team player. As part of the job, you will:

  • Work closely with the Senior Editor to edit best-of lists and other related B2B content for quality and optimization before publishing
  • Assign and edit best-of B2B articles, utilizing SEO and BI data to strategically expand into new categories and strengthen existing categories
  • Track performance of content to inform and execute on new B2B opportunities across our various distribution channels
  • Help execute a content plan for various B2B categories, including POS, software, credit card processing, LLC formation, and more, while adhering to the AP style and U.S. News style guide
  • Collaborate with the research and data team as needed to create accurate and helpful ratings of B2B products and services
  • Use SEO and data analysis to find new content for quality, keywords, and reader intent
  • Edit 30 to 40 new pieces of net new content per month, plus updates

You should definitely have:

  • One year to three years of similar or related experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism or English, or equivalent experience
  • Passion for finding the best B2B services for our audience
  • A background in performance marketing content and/or creating other types of affiliate content
  • Solid understanding of affiliate and SEO best practices
  • Experience with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Looker, and SEMRush
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload, and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality and detail
  • Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Google Docs, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Good communication skills, both with colleagues and freelance contributors

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience with AirTable or equivalent project management platforms and working in CMS
  • Management experience with direct reports or freelancers
  • Direct experience with B2B content
