The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate, Louisiana’s largest newspaper and a 2019 Pulitzer Prize winner, is seeking a business reporter to join our growing newsroom.  We’re looking for a journalist who can produce engaging stories across business topics, and is adept at juggling quicker posts while searching for scoops and crafting enterprise for print and the web.

The successful candidate will be the second of two business reporters covering the New Orleans area at a time when political and industry leaders are looking to move past the region’ historic reliance on tourism and trade. South Louisiana is rich with great stories, and while the job calls for stepping into myriad topics, the beat will likely include some specialty coverage in areas such as real estate, development and zoning. A key responsibility will be shaping a daily business newsletter that will strive to be the first read for the region’s decision makers.

A business reporting background is a big plus, but not required.

The Times-Picayune| New Orleans Advocate is a 7-day, home-delivered newspaper with a veteran staff, many of whom have covered the Crescent City for years. We are passionate about producing thoughtful, complex journalism both in print and on our website NOLA.com, and have been aggressive about growing the organization to reach more subscribers.

In addition to the New Orleans products, the company publishes The Advocate in Baton Rouge and The Acadiana Advocate in Lafayette, as well as their surging digital properties.

This position offers a competitive salary and benefits package that includes medical, vision and dental insurance, short term disability, long term disability and a 401K plan.
