The Wrap seeks a media business reporter

Leading Hollywood industry news website TheWrap is seeking an experienced reporter to cover the business of media. Are you passionate about the business story that shapes what we consume on our screens? Are you curious about the trends that are transforming the media industry? Are you dying to know why CNN+ failed to launch — or why Clubhouse may not be around in 12 months? Do you want to know if Wordle – or The Athletic – are going to be the next big things for The New York Times? Then this is the job for you.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, energetic and capable of multitasking in a real-time news environment.

Bonus: This job can be done remotely!

Required skills:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in a digital-first newsroom covering business news
  • Superior news judgment and writing skills
  • Passion for media/tech news and the players involved
  • Love for deep storytelling and the reporting skills that go with it
  • Proficiency on a CMS such as WordPress
  • Social media savvy
  • Salary range: $55,000 – $90,000

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
