The Hill seeks a tax policy reporter

The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, is looking for an experienced reporter to cover tax policy.

This beat will encompass Congress, the administration and lobbying on K Street. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver concise content quickly, beating the competition on news stories where every minute matters.

The candidate also must show an ability to translate an arcane topic into language a general audience can understand, while showing why a select change in tax policy is important to the lives of American households. The best applicant will also have a proven track record of working collaboratively with other reporters and editors to produce good journalism.

You should excel at breaking down complex subjects into scannable stories that are easily read by busy people on the go, but also be ready to dive deep with longer form content as warranted.

Please upload your materials combined into one single document with as much of the following as possible: your updated resume, a brief cover letter explaining your interest and fit for the position, and your portfolio/clips or links to a few samples of your work. Completing these steps will ensure that you receive the highest consideration.

Ideal candidates will have these skills and qualifications:

· At least two years of experience in journalism

· Demonstrated strong writing and reporting skills

· Audience-first mindset, including familiarity with digital and social media

· Appetite to tell stories in novel ways to attract new and larger audiences

· Drive to get stories online in a timely fashion, without sacrificing quality

· Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to build relationships

· Highly resourceful team player, also able to be extremely effective independently
