STAT is looking for a full-time, versatile editor who will be key to our operation in the afternoons and evenings. This person would primarily serve as a copy editor on stories and editor of our flagship newsletter, Morning Rounds. This person, who would report to our director of editorial operations, would also be our go-to editor on stories when news breaks in the evenings.
What You’ll Bring
- At least three years of experience in daily journalism serving as an editor or copy editor (newsletter editing a plus)
- A familiarity with WordPress and HubSpot is a plus
- An ability to make sure our coverage is accessible, accurate, and polished
- A flexibility with varied responsibilities, jumping on any given day from copy editing a story to editing a newsletter edition to handling a breaking news story
- A passion for collaboration with reporter and editor colleagues
- A deep knowledge of AP style and an interest in helping update STAT’s style guide and maintaining inclusive language in stories
- Fidelity to bedrock journalistic values and a commitment to excellence. A background or interest in science and medicine is a plus, though not required
- A keen interest in helping further STAT’s subscription-driven strategy for building a successful media company
- A willingness to adapt and be audience-focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment

Compensation/Location
