STAT is looking for an enterprising, versatile, curious, and hard-charging reporter to join our award-winning Washington D.C. bureau at this unique moment in our country’s history, when an understanding of the issues that STAT covers in Washington is more relevant than ever.
This reporter will pursue ambitious and impactful stories about the way politics and advocacy shape health care. We’re looking for a reporter who can break news and deliver quick-turn analyses, and also conceive of and execute illuminating, provocative, and unexpected enterprise stories. Our Washington reporters make up a small but close-knit team that stands out for exclusives.
What You’ll Do
Deliver scoops and distinctive stories from the Washington health care ecosystem including the White House, Congress, key health agencies, and the advocacy groups that lobby them
Balance the demands of daily news coverage with longer, deeply reported features and other enterprise targets
Moderate and lead events and contribute to newsletters and podcasts
Who You Are
A journalist who’s covered politics, health care, or science (or all three!)
Have a demonstrated track record of delivering scoops and exclusives on a competitive beat
Be collaborative, flexible, and willing to innovate
Remain faithful to bedrock journalistic values and committed to excellence

Compensation/Location
