S&P Global seeks a markets and trade reporter

S&P Global Markets seeks a reporter in either New York or Virginia, for its economics team to cover markets and trade.

The successful candidate will work closely with editors and journalists around the globe, with a focus on North America and Europe. Our team values collaboration and creativity to produce the most compelling content on the big-picture trends shaping economies and the business landscape.

Coverage topics include, but are not limited to: key questions about the future of the US job market and economy; corporate America’s push to bring manufacturing closer to home; how the Federal Reserve is working to tackle inflation beyond raising interest rates; how stock market participants are shifting their holdings in response to financial conditions; and data-driven analyses of the latest developments in supply chains, corporate bankruptcies, mergers and acquisition and short selling.

As a reporter, you will help drive our coverage strategy, build a network of contacts, and gain a strong understanding of economies, markets and credit. You will have an opportunity to expand our coverage of these topics, build readership among our clients and have your work cited by other leading business outlets.

The breadth of financial and industry data provided by S&P Global is available to our editorial teams to be a central part of your reporting and add deep context to enterprise stories.

Reporters also participate in S&P Global podcasts, webinars and other media channels.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional journalism experience.
  • Strong writing and reporting skills, along with excellent news judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute story ideas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional journalism experience
  • Knowledge of bond and stock markets and key economic indicators in major economies
  • Knowledge of the mandates and functions of the Federal Reserve and other global central banks
  • Demonstrated analytical and data visualization experience.
  • Strong MS Excel skills and knowledge of data analytics
  • Experience participating in panels, podcasts and other media.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $56,392 – $113,135. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
