The world’s leading financial commentary publication is looking for a top-notch editor to help shape its agenda-setting coverage of companies, banks, deals and policy in the United States.

This is a unique opportunity to frame opinion on companies, finance and regulation in the world’s biggest capital market as executives and financiers grapple with rising inflation and interest rates, the ongoing disruption of new technology, the fragmentation of global supply chains, a changing climate, unpredictable government policy, and complex social pressures.

The Associate Editor will work with our crack squad of editors, columnists and production editors in North America to commission and edit timely and agenda-setting views. They will also have the opportunity to expand on their own views on topical subjects. They will also work closely with the U.S. editor and other editors in the United States and around the world on all aspects of Breakingviews’ output, including events, videos and podcasts.

To fill this important role, we are looking for an experienced financial journalist with a proven track record of writing and editing well-informed and punchy commentary. Building on our reputation for clarity, accuracy and insight the Associate Editor will combine access to senior executives, investors, dealmakers and government officials with razor-sharp analytical skills, fresh ideas, and the ability to explain complex concepts to an international audience.

As Associate Editor at Reuters Breakingviews, you will:

  • Commission, edit and write punchy and original views on companies, finance, economics and policy for a sophisticated financial audience.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with senior executives, financiers, dealmakers and officials to develop agenda-setting views and raise Breakingviews’ profile.
  • Work with other Breakingviews editors around the world to explore global themes, develop new editorial initiatives and attract new readers.

To be our Associate Editor, you will likely have:

  • An established track record of commissioning, editing and writing sophisticated and punchy financial commentary to tight deadlines.
  • A base of high-level contacts in U.S. corporate boardrooms and among financiers, dealmakers and officials.
  • A detailed understanding of financial statements, analysis of corporate transactions, stock market valuations, and familiarity with financial and economic data.

Please note, the deadline for applications is Sunday 29th May 2022.
