Energy is one of the world’s key political issues and that’s certain to continue for years to come. Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine has thrown a spotlight on Europe’s dependence on Russian energy, and there’s now a scramble to cut that reliance as fast as possible.
We’re seeking a reporter to write agenda-setting stories and to break news on a story that moves from core energy issues of pipelines, coal mines and oil fields to high politics, as countries weigh the costs of a rapid shift away from Russian energy. The beat also covers the impacts of climate change and the green transition.
The successful candidate should be able to develop a wide range of sources in the EU institutions, national capitals and in the industry to break news. They should have a talent for framing how policy plans hatched in the Brussels bubble affect the lives of people across the Continent, and write fast-moving international energy stories with authority.
This is a full-time role based in our Brussels newsroom.
