Politico is seeking an ambitious and enterprising reporter to cover Capitol Hill for our growing Defense team.
Politico’s Defense team digs into consequential issues across a wide range of areas at the intersection of weapons, warfare, politics and policy. We’re looking for a deeply sourced reporter with an interest in all things defense who can deliver agenda-setting scoops on top lawmakers, defense-focused committees, the budget, relations with the administration and key policy-makers.
The successful candidate will have a track record of delivering breaking news and enterprise reporting in a fast-paced daily newsroom. This position includes ample opportunity to write stories that appear across all of Politico’s platforms — from newsy dispatches for subscribers, to enterprise stories for Politico’s homepage, to Morning Defense and other newsletters — both in the U.S. and in Europe.
What You’ll Need:
- At least two years of experience working as a reporter in a daily newsroom.
- Excellent news judgment and a deep understanding of how the Defense Department and Capitol Hill work.
- The desire to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues throughout the company in the U.S. and Europe.
- A track record of delivering scoops and enterprise on a beat.
