Orange County Biz Journal seeks an editor

The Orange County Business Journal, arguably the most successful local business publication in the country, is seeking an Editor for our weekly publication. You will be following a distinguished group, including a Pulitzer Prize recipient.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished journalist with a sophisticated understanding of business. You will run a vibrant newsroom that includes young staff as well as veterans with distinguished resumes.

Orange County is a community of three million people and is the job center of Southern California, as measured by jobs per population. It is the number one market for medical device companies; is rich with consumer product companies and restaurant chains, like Chipotle and Taco Bell; finance, including Pimco; defense, including Anduril and Boeing; Disneyland and much more.

The Orange County Business Journal’s sophisticated understanding and coverage of our local business community has been ongoing for more than forty years. Our editorial excellence has put us in a position to substantially grow, while other print media shrink.

Job Qualifications

  • Journalism degree
  • Editor experience in print media and business journalism
  • Has the ability to work in-person

Salary range: $150,000-$170,000

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
