MT Newswires seeks an editor to join our HQ team.

The HQ Editor will operate as a distribution and communication hub primarily for our US newsroom. HQ Editor will monitor financial news on Bloomberg, as well as other resources such as The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Reuters, Dow Jones and other major US dailies. HQ Editor will communicate throughout the day with the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editors, detailing all major breaking news stories across the financial universe in North America to ensure MT has comprehensive coverage.

Position Requirements:

  • Monitor Bloomberg for analyst rating changes and price target moves made by investment banks, daily sending detailed lists to the Analyst Actions team.
  • Accumulate lists of analyst moves made on European and Asia stocks and send those lists to the regional EMEA and APAC managing editors.
  • Use Bloomberg to accumulate daily lists of companies reporting quarterly earnings results. These lists will include companies reporting before and after the bell. Lists will include company name; consensus estimates for earnings and revenue as well as consensus estimates for forward quarterly guidance. The lists will be sent to the US Newsroom email address.
  • Assist Top News editors and reporters in forwarding conference call transcripts of large cap companies for additional content to be added to more detailed Top News stories.
  • Edit stories from MT’s Breaking News and Top News teams as needed.
  • Immediately deal with corrections received via Slack/email, notifying the correct regional editors to deal with the issue. HQ Editor will communicate with HQ staff that correction is being addressed and when it moves on the wire.

This is a freelance position with a specific shift time of 7a-3p ET Monday – Friday and hourly rates will vary based on experience. Pay is on the high end of the industry scale, providing regular and reliable monthly income with significant near-term growth potential.
