This is an opportunity to cover a wide range of regulatory stories from competition to climate, and is suited both to experienced editors and to reporters with a flair for writing who want to make the switch. About the role:
The core of the role is to handle copy from the Brussels and London bureaus across all MLex services: Competition, Data Privacy, Trade, Financial Services, Financial Crime, Digital Transport, and Climate. These are complex regulatory issues and the Editor will need to develop a thorough understanding of them all in order to ask the right questions about sourcing or accuracy, or to put the reporting in context.
MLex is a real-time newswire and the successful candidate will be expected to turn around urgent copy quickly. With the support of the Europe Managing Editor, she or he will manage the daily copy flow and make decisions on which stories to prioritise at any given moment.
We also publish in-depth reporting and commentary, and the Editor will work with reporters at all stages of this process, from conceiving the initial idea to crafting the finished product. The successful candidate will furthermore be expected to coach reporters on all aspects of the writing process and contribute to developing MLex’s coverage.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in our Brussels office at least three days a week under our post-Covid hybrid working policy; the other two days may be worked from home (subject to revision).
