MarketWatch.com seeks a markets reporter in London

MarketWatch seeks a sharp, nimble reporter to cover financial markets, with a tilt toward the hedge-fund industry and other major buyside investors.

The ideal candidate would be clued into how major investors see financial markets, how they are trying to profit and be able to chronicle both their successes and failures. This candidate would also be able to assist in MarketWatch’s coverage of breaking news on markets, tracking moves in everything from stocks to bonds and everything in between, with an eye toward setting up the U.S. team’s financial-market coverage.

Essential job requirements

  • Monitoring and quickly and accurately writing about the strategies and tactics of institutional investors.
  • Developing and cultivating sources within the asset management business.
  • Analyzing the performance of major markets and companies.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
