Inc. is looking for a creative staff editor to help steer our popular workplace coverage on Inc.com. This unique role involves a mix of writing, editing and curation and operates on a Sunday – Thursday work schedule.
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America East Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary range: $79,000 – $84,000 + bonus eligible. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, industry, and education.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Pitching and writing 3+ stories per week, focusing on workplace topics like hiring, HR and workplace trends.
- Editing columns and source wire stories on Sundays.
- Building relationships with expert sources in the workplace beat.
- Ensuring that all our content is timely, SEO optimized and factually accurate.
- Occasionally pitching in across other verticals on inc.com, and helping with larger editorial projects and research, as needed.
Qualifications
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 3+ years’ experience writing and/or editing traffic-driving stories for a daily online publication
- Strong editing, writing, and communication skills
- Familiarity with workplace related topics like leadership, hiring, productivity, workplace culture, and diversity and equity efforts
- Knowledge about Inc., the types of companies, topics, and industries we cover, and the ability to communicate with executives and leaders within those industries
- Excellent organizational skills, close attention to detail, and desire to work autonomously
- An ability to juggle multiple projects, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with WordPress and good SEO practices
