BridgeTower Media and The Idaho Business Review are seeking a Managing Editor to join our award-winning news organization covering business news. This position oversees all aspects of the editorial department, which includes managing a reporter and freelance writers associated with producing quality content online and in print.
The Managing Editor is also responsible for overseeing the production of a slate of daily/weekly electronic newsletters, a website that reaches a highly engaged B2B audience, a bi-weekly print edition, several special publications, and will facilitate and moderate ongoing thought leadership panel discussions.
The Managing Editor must live within the Boise Metro area to attend planning meetings, engage in-person with business leaders and to contribute with the production of live events.
What skills does the job require?
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or a related field
- 5+ years of editorial management and leadership experience.
- Niche product experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of business and state government news coverage.
- Strong computer skills and advanced knowledge of digital content management systems. Including but not limited to: Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe InCopy, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Reader and Acrobat, and internet research skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with public speaking.
- Ability to build strong relationships with key business leaders.
- Reliable home internet connection with minimum 50mbps up/10mbps down

- Keeping on top of industry innovations and trends.
- Building paid subscribers and audience through essential, unique content.
- Managing an editorial department
- Work with staff reporters, freelance contributors and interns to conceive and execute insightful coverage for our audiences
- Lead a multimedia newsroom providing local, essential niche content online, email newsletters, social media and print.
- Managing the content, navigability and readership growth of our websites.
- Continually working on features and innovations to serve readers and build paid audience.
- Serving as one of the hosts and thought leaders for webinars, roundtables and live and virtual events.
- Maintaining the highest standards of professional ethics.
- Working closely with the publisher to create products to grow revenue and our brand.
- Edit and post stories and commentaries to ensure essential digital content daily
- Assist in the production of a bi-weekly newspaper and digital edition
- Help develop new editorial products and expand coverage areas and audiences
- Collaborate with other departments and other organizations within BridgeTower Media
- Keep abreast of industry developments, audience analytics and emerging editorial technologies
