Greater Wilmington Business Journal is looking for a reporter to add to its news team in Southeastern North Carolina.
NOTE: We are also looking to add to our freelancer pool. If interested in freelancing opportunities but not a full-time position, you can indicate that on your application/writing samples.
Ideal candidates for the full-time position would be self-motivated; care about quality writing; able to juggle deadlines and multiple projects; research subjects; be comfortable with web writing and social media – posting quickly and accurately on our sites; generate compelling story ideas; look for trends and narratives that provide context to our daily headlines and lifestyle content; and contribute to ideas as we continue to evolve and find new ways to connect with readers in new formats and focus areas.
A business reporting background is not a requirement, but we are looking for those with journalism experience.
Founded in 2000, the independent, locally owned Business Journal publishes a newspaper twice a month and online daily at WilmingtonBiz.com. We also publish a glossy business news magazine quarterly called WilmingtonBiz Magazine as well as WILMA magazine, which focuses on successful women. Our newest lifestyle publication and website, Good Life Wilmington, launched last year focusing on retirees in the area or looking to move to Wilmington.
Located in Wilmington, N.C., minutes from the ocean, the media company offers a reporter the opportunity to cover a fast-growing community. At least two years of reporting experience preferred but will consider recent college grads.
Please include writing samples or links. Send cover letter, resume and writing samples to editor@wilmingtonbiz.com.
