Fortune seeks a senior social media editor

Fortune is looking for a senior social media editor to join our growing team of journalists around the world.

This role will work directly with the director of audience in the US, and the global Fortune news and social teams to execute key initiatives on different platforms and grow traffic on the site with excellent journalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify strategic initiatives for our channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Help define strategy for syndication partnerships, including MSN, Smartnews, and Flipboard.
  • Help mentor and guide junior social team members.
  • Communicate successes and strategy to editorial and audience teams.
  • Do regular “trending” report for editorial team to help identify high-traffic story opportunities.
  • Assign trending stories to the editorial and audience teams.
  • Occasionally write trending stories for our website.
  • Help manage content calendar for features, franchises, and events.
  • Explore and launch new social channels and partnerships to drive traffic.

Experience: 

  • 5+ years of experience in social media for a major publication posting new stories daily.
  • Expert framer and headline writer who understands which stories and packaging resonate best with audiences.
  • Familiarity with social platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Demonstrated creativity in storytelling across multiple platforms.
  • Experience in social video is a plus.

This role will be full-time, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. EST. We welcome employees choosing to work remotely, or from our New York headquarters.
