Delaware Biz Times seeks an associate editor

Today Media is seeking an Associate Editor to join its Wilmington, DE, office to contribute to its daily business journal, the Delaware Business Times. The position works directly with the Executive Editor to help produce print editions twice a month, quarterly ancillary issues including Book of Lists, Innovation, Careers & Stuff and Delaware 222 and update DelawareBusinessTimes.com each weekday.

Delaware Business Times is a national award-winning B2B publication dedicated to serving the owners, executives, managers, entrepreneurs, and other professionals who make up the business community of the First State.

The Associate Editor will contribute to the content production of Delaware Business Times, including writing and occasional photography, Other content includes daily business news as well as executive profiles, in-depth trend reports and investigative pieces.

The role offers a hybrid office schedule, with Today Media offices located in downtown Wilmington, DE.

For Delaware Business Times:

  • Help ensure that the 24x/year business publication and its digital presence delivers on the editorial mission covering Delaware’s diverse and wide-ranging business community with insightful profiles and in-depth reporting on local issues and trends.
  • Responsible for editorial duties as necessary including editing, coordinating freelancers, writing, pitching story ideas, research, proofing layouts, and attending business events and press conferences.
  • Review and approve layouts prior to circulation; collaborate with pagination team to make enhancements or improvements to the layouts when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other team members to support Delaware Business Times events, including annual award programs and speaker series.

Who We Are Looking For:

A knowledge of the Delaware business community and/or business writing experience is preferred. At least 5 years of experience in a media company writing, editing, proofing and developing original sources. Familiarity with the flow of a daily newsroom, and success working with quick turnaround times and managing multiple deadlines.

The ideal candidate is highly collaborative and will get out in the community to attend events and establish sources in support of the DBT brand.
