Cowboy State Daily seeks an energy reporter

May 12, 2022

Posted by Chris Roush

Wyoming’s fastest growing news organization is hiring a reporter to cover the energy industry.

You will cover coal, oil, natural gas, trona, nuclear, wind, solar, and related topics and industries in Wyoming.

Ideally, you have experience in covering energy issues and related topics — including government regulations — or have the proven ability to quickly adapt to new coverage subjects.

Wyoming is ground zero for all things energy. Energy is not being covered nearly the way it should or could be. We’re changing that.

Here’s what you bring to the table:

Great writing chops.  Ability to turn quality stories around quickly. You have a strong rolodex (Google it) or have the ability to build your rolodex quickly. You understand the digital space. You are competitive. You want to be seen as a leader in energy journalism. You know how to deliver great original stories.

What we bring to the table:

We’re an outstanding organization with great people. Our audience has quadrupled in the last year. We were acquired in February by an owner who believes in quality journalism and quality journalists. Unlike so much of the news industry, we’re expanding.

You’ll be surrounded by a group of people who care about quality journalism. Quality editors, quality reporters, quality environment.

Great benefits too.

We’re interested in people who love to write, love to explain, love the job of being a real journalist.

At Cowboy State Daily, the sky is blue. We’re optimistic. We look forward to each day. And we’re killing it. We love what we do.
