Bloomberg seeks Europe economy reporter in Frankfurt

February 9, 2023

Posted by Chris Roush

Bloomberg News is seeking an experienced reporter to join its award-winning Economy team in Frankfurt.

You’ll follow the European Central Bank and chronicle the economy of the world’s biggest currency area as policy makers navigate the fallout from war in Ukraine, an energy shock and the worst bout of inflation for a generation.

You’ll also be tasked with contributing to wider economics coverage for Europe and beyond and covering newsmakers at international events such as the IMF meetings or the G-20.

We’re looking for someone with an extensive contact book and a track record of landing big scoops who can also look beyond the immediate headlines to write about the deeper shifts in the economy and the tensions between those who are charged with managing it.

You should be comfortable moving quickly between breaking news, quick-turnaround analysis and longer-form enterprise across a variety of platforms.

You’ll need to have:

  • A minimum of three years reporting experience, preferably on economics
  • Ability to write quickly and concisely on deadline
  • Fluency in English and a major euro-area language, and at least a working knowledge of German would be preferred
  • Excellent news judgment and a talent for looking beyond the obvious story
  • The ability to translate complex economic concepts into plain English
  • A willingness to work well within a team and with others across the newsroom and platforms
