Bloomberg seeks economy and government editor in Warsaw

December 8, 2023

Posted by Chris Roush

Bloomberg is looking for an editor to work with our team of reporters in eastern Europe, producing agenda-setting stories that will make readers sit up and take notice.

Your coverage will inevitably revolve around the war in Ukraine, but you will also be working on Viktor Orban’s Hungary, the return of Donald Tusk in Poland and the emergence of new centers of economic dynamism as the EU’s center of gravity shifts eastward.

You’ll primarily be editing news and features filed by our team across the region or writing yourself with contribution from reporters. We’ll place a premium on your ability to zoom in on what matters and then connect the dots to tell our stories from a global perspective.

The relationships you’ll build with colleagues across the newsroom are going to be crucial to your success. You’ll get to know the reporters’ different strengths and interests and you’ll earn their trust by consistently helping them to make the most of their reporting. You’ll also learn to harness the skills of journalists across the continent to bring your stories to life in different formats and reach the broadest possible audience.

The job can be based in Warsaw or another of our bureaus in the region and will involve foreign travel. Please let the recruiter know about your location preferences during your conversation with them.

You’ll need to have:

  •   A track record in political, economic or business journalism
  •   Experience working in a fast-paced real time news organization
  •   One or more eastern European languages
  •   The ambition and drive to be first with the news that our clients care about

We’ll trust you to:

  •   Work with your colleagues to elevate our coverage across the news cycle
  •   Forge productive partnerships with reporters and work out how to use their different skill sets
  •   Think creatively about ways to make our content accessible to a diverse audience of business-savvy readers
