Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It’s what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic reporter to join our team in Tokyo and cover Japan’s stock market. The Japanese stock market is at an inflection point, and to tell the story, we are seeking someone with a go-getter attitude, the curiosity to explore and connect the dots, and the ability to develop a diverse network of sources.

You will primarily write in Japanese, while operating effectively in our dual-language newsroom. You will be expected to break news and produce real-time reports on stock moves in this dynamic market that boasts many players in the global tech supply chain. You will also write longer-form features and enterprise stories that resonate with local and global readers.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Write smart, analytical stories that explain the factors driving the market
  • Turn stories around quickly when news breaks
  • Spot the most exciting moves and trends through sourcing networks
  • Actively pitch story ideas on key developments and themes
  • Collaborate across teams and platforms
  • Secure interviews with influential asset managers and newsmakers
You’ll need to have:
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial journalism, writing in Japanese
  • A keen interest in Japan’s stock market
  • The ability to write quickly, concisely and accurately under deadline
  • Proven ability to make and build sources in financial markets
  • Good command of both spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
