Bloomberg seeks a news desk editor in DC

Bloomberg is seeking an editor to help shape and showcase the biggest stories of the day for our growing online audience. As a member of the nerve center of the newsroom, you will be expected to perform a variety of roles: Curate Bloomberg’s homepages, write sharp headlines, craft social and SEO language and send speedy mobile alerts.

WE’LL TRUST YOU:

    •   To be a self-starter with a passion for breaking news as well as longer-form pieces – and presenting them all in clear and exciting ways
    •   Have a deep understanding of the trends and coverage areas that matter for our digital audience
    •   Collaborate with reporters and editors across Bloomberg’s global newsroom and digital platforms
    •   To be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that often requires making split-second decisions, and be willing to pitch in across roles
    • YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:
  •   A minimum of 4 recent years of experience covering business journalism or financial markets
  •   Experience working at a real-time news service or publishing environment would be an asset
  •   Prior experience with SEO tools and Socialflow is a plus
  •   Excellent news judgment and strong attention to detail
  •   A collaborative spirit and a commitment to innovate and experiment

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
