Posted by Chris Roush

Bloomberg News is looking for an experienced reporter to drive our coverage of US financial rule enforcement and Securities and Exchange Commission investigations. This is a high-profile beat with the chance to break major news about white-collar crime.

This reporter will be the primary point person in our global newsroom for probes involving the SEC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The job requires discretion, excellent judgment and an interest in writing about some of the biggest names in finance. The person will work closely with other colleagues on the financial regulation team, as well as those covering finance and the Justice Department.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about breaking news through exclusive reporting. The person should be familiar with financial rules, regulatory issues and politics. Previous experience covering SEC enforcement is not required, but a desire to jump in to a fast-paced, exciting beat is necessary. Familiarity with topics such as banking, housing finance and crypto is a bonus.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Build a network of sources inside and outside of the government
  • Deliver accurate articles under tight deadlines
  • Work with colleagues to report and develop stories
  • Generate exclusives and longer-term features
  • Become a resource to newsroom colleagues on SEC and CFTC enforcement questions

You’ll need to have:

  • A desire to work collaboratively with colleagues in Washington, New York and elsewhere
  • An interest in financial regulation and white-collar crime
  • A desire to learn and work collaboratively
  • The ability to produce stories under tight deadline
